In the Ted Talk "We The People, and the Republic must reclaim", by Lawrence Lessig addresses the issue of the congressional election, and that the citizens that represent both the general public and the funders, Congress candidites depend on more to bring money back in to congress so that their party is back in power. This in his words is considered as corruption. Lessig makes the Talk both entertaining and informative. He relates the U.S. to a place called Lester land where they also have the general election for all citizens and then the few percent named Lester are the funders. In both cases, The candidites first rely on the funders before they depend on the general public votes, they're simply seeking for more "money to put back into congress or get their party back into power".
Ethos is used when he tells to the people that the issue of unbalanced dependency between the overall general population votes and the funder's votes must come first before your everyday issues, then restating that it is not the most important task at hand but in order to get your problems solved this problem is to be solved first. Pathos is displayed in the Ted Talk when Jessig announced that congress has waste too much time on raising money in order to benefit their party instead of focusing on the people and their issues within our country today. Logos is shown several times. For instance, His statistic that .05% of the U.S. are the funders which make about 132 Americans are increasingly depended on by congressional candidates and 30 to 70 percent of their time is focusing on pursuading the funders to boost their party and fund their election. All three show that Congress has paid more attention to the people with more money who will potentially help their party.
Overall, Lessig's message was that the corruption of unequal representation of the people during the Congressional elections and Congress needing to put the focus on money aside and focus on issues within the states, and other phenomenon that comes along. I found his Talk to be empowing, thought provoking, and funny which kept me engaged throughout the Talk. The Talk itself pertains to both the American Dream and the Global Dream in the sense that The people aren't being heard and that they should have a voice in a fair and unbiased election, and that is what was being talked about and needed to be heard around the world.
